SS of PCS Spring Meeting 2017

SS of PCS Spring Meeting took place on 5-9 April 2017 in Stegna. The symposium attended 83 participants, from many academic centres in Poland, who presented 24 oral communications and 51 posters. During the proceedings participants were able to take part in courses organized by J.S Hamilton Poland S.A:

1. ”Use of analytical techniques in the testing of atypical products on the base of archaeological objects” conducted by Dr inż. Monika Czarnecka – Partyka.
2. "Basic requirements for materials to contact with food” conducted by M.Sc. Adama Fotek.

During the SSPTChem Spring Meeting  we had the opporttunity to listen to the following lectures conducted by experienced scientists:

Prof. Jerzy Błażejowski (University of Gdańsk): „Thermodynamics in the description of reactivity of chemical bonds and nature conservation ",

Dr. Marcin Kozanecki (Łódź Univeristy of Technology): „Water role in thermoset polymer gels”,

Dr. Łukasz Chrzanowski (Poznan Univeristy of Technology): „BIO-MIT, the influence of biodiesel on the biodegradation of diesel fuel”

Prof. Wojciech Pisula (Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, Łódź Univeristy of Technology): „Self-Assembly and Charge Carrier Transport in Donor-Aceptor Polymers”.

This year, besides experienced scientist - academic lecturers, we invited also young scientists, who posses significant scientific achievements.

M.Sc. Wojciech Zajączkowski (Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research): „Self-assembly properties of sterically demanding π-systems by conjugation with oligoprolines”,

Dr. Krzysztof Żamojć (University of Gdańsk): „Physicochemical studies of potential molecular biosensors of reactive forms of nitrogen and oxygen”,

Dr. Łukasz Półtorak (Delft University of Technology): „Electrified soft interface”,

Dr. Dominika Pawcenis (Uniwersytet Jagielloński): „Sour Paper”.

During the SSPTChem Meeting we have selected the authors of the best oral communications.

List of presented Awards:

Karol Steckiewicz (Medical Univeristy of Gdańsk) „Clinical use of metal nanoparticles - the future of medicine or the threat?”

Agata Walkowiak (Nicolaus Coprenicus Univeristy in Toruń)
„Use of infrared spectroscopy and various chemometric methods to detect falsification of supplements containing Ginko Biloba extract”,

Marek Skiba (Jagielloinain Univeristy in Kraków)
„Study of cargo transport mechanism in cobalt spinel by computational chemistry”

Mariusz Mąkiewicz (Łódź Univeristy of Technology)
„Investigation of the potential use of benzophenoxazine derivatives as polymerization photoinitiators”

The authors of the best posters have also been selected.

Małgorzata Skarbek (Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences)

„Microbiological transformation of haloacetal halides with trimethylcyclohexene system using filamentous fungi”

Tomasz Swebocki (University of Gdańsk)
„What is the smell of death? Dead venom”

During this year’s Meeting SPECIAL PRIZE FOR POSTER OF OWN RESEARCH granted by KAMUSH won Paweł Lemieszczuk (Łódź Univeristy of Technology): „Hydrophobicisation of nanoparticle surface of titanium oxide.”
Paid internship funded by Synthos S.A. won Nikola Fajkis from Jagielloinain Univeristy in Kraków.

Together with HYDROLAB, we have also organized two contests, which main goal was to gather the greatest number of likes under the post.

1. „At the Spring Meeting of the Students Section of the Polish Chemical Society 2017 I go with HYDROLAB” won Mateusz Baluk (866 likes)
2. „Greetings from the Spring Meeting 2017” won Konrad Rudnicki (136 likes)

We would like to thank the authors of all oral communications and posters for their contribution to ensure a very high scientific level of this year's meeting and active participation in lecture sessions.
